About Festival:
Theatre.Uz/2012 Festival will acquaint residents and guests of Tashkent with the performances of Tashkent Theatres and invited foreign artists, and in the future will continue its efforts to attract foreign theatres.
The significant difference of today festival is that the co-founders of the festival are not only the governmental agencies, such as the Ministry of Culture and Sport Affairs of Uzbekistan and UzbekTheater Creative Association, but also the non-governmental and public organization: the Forum of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan Foundation. It means that even the society in Uzbekistan is ready and willing to have a theater festival and supports its goals and objectives.
Welcome to Uzbekistan, a very special country geographically situated at the crossroads of East and West.
Historically, being located at the crossroads of the Silk Road, Uzbekistan took in cultures of different nations and traditions of different faiths and denominations, accumulated educational potential since the ancient times. Today, Uzbekistan is a prosperous state that took its rightful place in the world space.
New annual theatre festival aims to bring together theatrical culture of different countries for the sake of mutual understanding, mutual respect, mutual penetration of the best traditions of theatrical art.
Goals and objectives of the festival
Theatre Festival «Theatre.Uz/2012» is established pursuant to the Decree of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan "On the Development of Theatre Arts of Uzbekistan" dated on March 26, 1998.
The main purpose of the festival:
- Organization of Uzbek theater performances in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent;
- Organization of world theaters performances in the capital of Uzbekistan, Tashkent;
- Establishing of strong friendly and creative relations of Uzbekistan theatres with foreign theaters in the name of the interpenetration and mutual enrichment of different theatrical traditions and cultures;
- A broad promotion of achievements and creativity of contemporary theater arts in Uzbekistan;
- Promotion of Theatrical Arts of Uzbekistan;
- Assistance to creativity and creative search for theaters and artists.
For this purpose the festival features the following tasks:
- Encouraging of Uzbek theaters to create striking scenic works, glorifying the rich spiritual world of our nation, its cultural heritage, a sense of respect for national and universal values, glorifying our independence;
- Attraction and play of highly artistic performances, creative programs, street performances, shows, recitals, and preparation and implementation of international theater projects; master classes and lessons in acting, directing, dramaturgy, theater management, and other areas of theater, with the involvement of teachers and masters from Uzbekistan as well as from abroad;
- Recording, promotion of audio- and video- CD and DVD with audio and video versions of theatrical and musical works of the Uzbek and world classics and modernity in Uzbekistan and abroad, producing of talented creative young people of Uzbeksitan in the sphere of dramatic art, as well as music, painting and the other arts;
- Implementation of the publishing and distribution of printed works, books, pamphlets and other visual products, the creation of video products, performances and video and film.
Located in the center of the city world class hotel offers its guests comfortable rooms of different types and other facilities such as pool, gym and others.
